Amazing Weekend!!!!

The weather this weekend was a amazing!!! It felt like it was spring. I am so ready for spring after this weather this weekend. It just makes it so much more motivating with weather like this.

Once again Saturday morning I got off the midnight shift at 6 am and met up with a running group at 8 am for a 13 mile run. The run went well. but I was feeling the affects of no sleep. My friend Shelia was amazing and kept me going. After a good run in beautiful weather we enjoyed a nice breakfast at J. Christopher's.....yummy!! The rest of the day was a fun relaxing day with a friend. Trying to make sure I get that friend time in now before my whole life is taken over by training. Saying that always makes me wonder how tired and exhausting I really am going to be. I hear so many stories about how tried I'll be and how training will become my life and I can honestly say I think I am mentally ready for it. I  can't wait. Even though I am sure it is going to be tough I know I have a good group of people I will be training with and I am hope to try to enjoy it and have fun with it.
On another note...
Today was amazing. It has been 2 months since my bike has hit pavement and I was in heaven! I had an outstanding  50 mile bike ride with such a good group of people. For how long it's been since I have been on my bike I felt amazing! I can't wait to get back out on it for another ride. Riding on Sunday on a perfect weather day reminding me how crowded the Silver Comet can really get though.
As for tomorrow, I was hoping to get a run in, but it is suppose to rain so we'll see what happens. The only good thing about rain is that means I can hit the pool!!! Until then I think I deserve a glass of wine and going to read some of my book. Good Night!!!!!

Jordan's Birthday...

Jordan's Birthday was Tuesday and of course I had to work so we celebrated it on Monday! We did get to spend Tuesday morning together for his birthday which was nice. With that said I finally got a run in today!! I had a nice 5.5 mile run and then took my dogs for about a mile walk. Even with out all the training I should have done for this marathon in 2 weeks, my legs are feeling pretty good! I also did pull out the foam roller and tennis balls and hit all those spots on my legs that you never thought were sore or tight...one word OUCH!!!! haha. Other then that tomorrow is a wash for training with my work schedule, but on Saturday I am going to get a good 13 miler in! I am also going to be getting on my bike this weekend with a group of people on Sunday and we are going to ride for 3 hrs!!!! I can't wait. I just got my bike back from my tune up and it is ready to go!!!! With all that said I am getting excited for my official training to start in March!!!! Until Saturday, Goodnight!!!!

Kicking it into gear

Well, after getting off the midnight shift Saturday morning at 6am, I managed to meet up with the running club at 8am for a run. Yes on no sleep I ran 16 mile!!!! Surprisingly it was a really good run and enjoyed every minute of it. Ideally I would love to get a longer run in then that this weekend but with the Marathon only two weeks away doesn't look like it will happen. I am feeling ready for it though and if I can keep getting miles in this week I should be go. Not expecting a good time but if I could PR I would be amazing. Hoping to get another run in tomorrow before work.
In the mean time time to get stuff done for Jordan's Birthday!!!! Oh and one more thing...
GO PACK GO!!!!! We are going to the SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!

I had a very good 6 mile run yesterday! It was short but it felt good and I am ready for my long run this weekend. It's going to be tough though because I am working the midnight shift at work tonight. I get off at 6am and meeting up with people at 8am to get my long run out of the way. So we'll see how this goes on no sleep. haha.
On another note I was talking to a guy from work today who does triathlons and he showed me today that Ironman Wisconsin is the 3rd hardest Ironman!!!! I guess I'm really going big this year!!!!
Crazy!!!! I was also informed that there are 4 Kona spots at Ironman Wisconsin. Don't worry though I only need to shave off an hour on my marathon time, finsish my bike in less then 6 hrs and do the swim around 1 hr. Kona here I come. ;) JK

Well that's it for now time to get to sleep before work tonight. Goodnight!!!

Lining up my races....

After having a bad snow/ice storm last week and being stuck in the house for a few days, I finally got to the gym yesterday and did a cycling class and ran on the tredmill as well. I was a really good workout that kicked my butt. On Monday I also got a sports massage which was painful but amazing. Kelly is who I get my sports massages from and she is amazing. She has been working on my hips which have been hurting me when I run long distances so I am hoping that which things she says to do and her working  on them, it will keep me feeling good through this year. With that said I am hopefully about to get some good long runs in since I signed up for the Birmingham Marathon on Feb. 13th. I am not fully ready for it but we will see what happens.

As for my race schedule I am finally getting it together still trying to find a few more races to do but this is what it is looking like.

Feb. 13: Birmingham Marathon
May 15: Rev3 Knoxville 70.3
July 10: Chattanooga Olympic Triathlon
Sept. 11: IRONMAN WISCONSIN

I am still looking for 2 more races to do as well as trying to find some century rides to fit in as well. But the time is getting close and I can not wait!!!!

I may get on my trainer today as well. But for now not much going on for me with training which is  not good. Hopefully I have better news about my training in the up coming posts =)

iPhone 4

Well it's a good thing I am not in the heart of my training right now. It's Sunday and had a lot of plans today so I had my phone set for 6:30 am to get up and go run but the wonderful iPhone has a glitch with the alarm right now since the New Year. It is suppose to get fixed by tomorrow so we'll see. I guess I will have to set my actually alarm clock for tomorrow. =) So hopefully I can get a run in tomorrow and get to the gym since I didn't get to today because my alarm never went off (I know good excuse, haha but it's true)

As for another note I am so excited  after talking to a friend of mine about Ironmans. She is doing Ironman Louisville which is 2 weeks before Ironman Wisconsin so we are going to be training partners!!!! So glad to know I will have someone to train with during those long  boring rides and runs! Love ya Misty!!!

I also decided on a 24 week training program which will turn into 26 weeks so Misty and I can train together. So my official training will start March 13th, until then it will be building my base and getting myself ready mentally and physically until then!!!! Can't wait!!! Let the training begin.

Oh and by the way.... GO PACK GO!!!!!! We are in the playoffs!!!!!

Happy New Years!!!

Well it is 2011 and this should be an exciting year for me! Not only will I be turning 30, but I am starting my training to do my first IRONMAN!!!! I am so excited and the reason I am starting this blog is so all my friends and family can follow me during my training and races leading up to the BIG event!!!!

A little background first...
This crazy idea started when I decided I wanted to do something big for my 30th birthday. I wanted a huge challenge and something that is going to test my limits and push me that much harder. Having already done marathons (I have done 7 to date) I needed something else. Done the Goofy Challenge as well. One thing I haven't tried yet is triathlons so I decided to go big right away. That's where the Ironman came into play. I had nothing for doing triathlons as of a year ago. So I starting looking for a bike and everything else I needed. In March 2011 I finally purchased my bike!!!! Only after 2 months of having my bike I already signed up for a sprint triathlon in May. Not knowing what to expect I had an amazing race, I took first in my age group!!!!

I complete my next triathlon in July which was an Olympic Distant Triathlon. Still be new to the sport that one was a rude awaking on how intense and hard triathlons can really be. It still wasn't going to stop me. I knew I wanted to at least do 2 half Ironman distant races before the year was over to get my feet wet a little more for next year. So I signed up for Augusta 70.3 Ironman  and Beach to Battleship.

Augusta 70.3 was such an amazing race! The course and spectators were all amazing. For being my first 70.3 I had an amazing race finish under 6 hours, which I never thought I would do!!! Finishing in 5:53 I was on such a high and ready for my next which caused me to sign up for Beach to Battleship. I had high expectations going into Beach to Battleship 70.3 and after having a bad race and finishing over 6 hours I was bumming for a while. After a friend looked up the results and saw that I finished 9th out of  31 people in my age group it made me feel a little better!!!!

With an amazing first year triathlons I am ready to see what this year will hold for me. I hope that you will follow me in my training to becoming an Ironman and see how I do!!! My main goal is to just finish the Ironman but I would also like to see me finish in under 15 hours!!! I hope all my training pays off.

On last thing, This is my first time doing a blog and I hope you all enjoy so you can follow me in my training and races. I am going to at least post something weekly but I will try to do more, especially if something exciting is happening or come up! Hope you all enjoy and please cheer me on. I need all the support I can get!  And for all my friends and family I can't already thank you all enough for all the support you guys have already given me just in the beginning stages! Thanks!!!
